BYO Flash Jam for Charity   

BYO Members, join our first BYO Flash Jam on Saturday August 13 from 10:00 am to noon.  Busicians will gather at C.C. Young Senior Living Center to play music for residents of the Senior Care, Skilled Nursing and Memory Care units of this facility. Please sign up in advance so we will know how many are coming. To make this activity accessible to all of our members we have created Version 1 of a BYO Songbook (download below). We will select songs from this book so all of our members will have an opportunity to learn the songs in advance.

This will be primarily an acoustic affair, perfect for stringed instruments, although if you want to bring a bass or keyboard with a small amp that is fine. I encourage percussionists to bring small instruments such as bongos, cajon, shakers, anything relatively portable and not too loud (be creative). Depending on how many of us sign up, we may break into separate groups and perform simultaneously in multiple locations. Two of the designated locations already have a piano onsite.

Our audience will average 85 years old so you will see some music in the songbook that is chosen with that in mind. We definitely need vocalists for lead and harmony in addition to playing our instruments. C.C. Young Senior Care is very excited to have us on the maiden voyage of our BYO Flash Jam initiative. If it goes well (and we know it will), this will become a routine activity of BYO and we will be looking for additional locations where our entertainment will bring a little bit of joy to people who need a lift.
